Over the past 30 years, Richard Seligman has had complex cases involving government and private construction contract disputes.
Government contract disputes have involved US government agencies, local Maryland county governments and the District of Columbia. Richard Seligman has appeared before the US Court of Claims and the DC Contract Appeals Board.
He has litigated construction contract disputes in the United States District Court in the District of Columbia, as well as in local trial and appellate courts in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He also has substantial experience litigating contract disputes in arbitration proceedings. Cases include a broad range of contract issues, including:
- Arbitration of impossibility of performance issues involving unforeseen toxic lead paint
- Successful appeal of a trial court's failure to dismiss a case involving a joint venture in which one partner had offered the other partner a final check as payment in full
- Negotiation with a state agency regarding alleged violations of both health and safety laws
